According to the Eastern New Mexico News, a 17-year-old student was arrested at Clovis High School in New Mexico, after posting a Snapchat photo threat with a person holding a rifle that said: “F*** CHS I’m going out with a bang” and “don’t go to school tmrw”.
Local CHS students saw the threat and were afraid the threat was meant to be carried out at their school, according to the Bridgeport School District
Before learning where the threat originated from, Central High School in Bridgeport was put on a lockdown around 11:30 a.m. Friday.
"Today there was a social media post regarding a potential threat at CHS. As a result, a lock-in/ lockout was put in place at Central High school while the Bridgeport Police Department conducted a thorough search of the entire campus," the district said in a statement.
To help give students a sense of calm, additional school resource officers were stationed at the school for the day.
In addition to the Snapchat threat, District officials said Bassick High School received a bomb threat Friday afternoon.
"Students were safely evacuated while Police conducted a thorough search of the entire campus," the statement said.
After the investigation, all students were able to return to the school without incident.
A phone blast of both incidents was sent to parents of Central High School and Bassick High School students. As a precautionary effort, all resource officers remained on the campuses until dismissal.
